State is securing 41 green buildings and still 14 projects are waiting with GRIHA  

               Karnataka state is going green these days, as people of the state are getting attracted towards green buildings. It has 41 green buildings, from which 39 buildings are situated in Bangalore; the ‘The Green City’ is on edge of becoming ‘Green Building City’. Karnataka is ranking 4th in highest figure of green buildings. Maharashtra is ranking 1st in all over India, NCR ranks 2nd and 3rd rank goes to Tamil Nadu. Chennai is leading in cities all over the country with highest figure of green buildings.

The demand for green building is slowly and steadily increasing in people’s mind. Though the success rate is just 5%, still Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) is satisfied by the progress of green buildings in residential sector, at least people are getting aware about protecting the environment. Record figures of IGBC states that there are total 1909 registered green buildings in the country.

Green Rating for Integrated Habitat Assessment (GRIHA) launched by the Energy Resources Institute (TERI) which evaluates green buildings all over the country, has 300 projects with them in whole of the country from them 14 are in Karnataka. The benefits of green buildings are abundant; they have economical, environmental and social benefits. Economically they are cost-effective, reduce operating cost and create market for green products and services. Environmentally such buildings are eco friendly, healthier, energy efficient and conservers less resources.
