Renewable Energy Business – Atha Group

Atha Group is happy to announce the commissioning of 10 MW Solar PV power plant

near Chitradurga district of Karnataka on 11th February, 2017. The plant is spread

around 45 acres of land. This will generate clean and green energy of around 180 lakhs

per year, thereby reducing carbon emissions of 165 lakhs Kgs per year, equivalent to

planting of around 6 lakh trees. With this recent commissioning, AMPL Cleantech, the

Renewable Division of the Group has achieved a solar capacity of 200 MW.

The group plans to reach 1 GW by 2020 and contribute to the Prime Minister’s Green

Energy Mission of achieving a solar capacity of 100 GW by the year 2022. The solar plants

are located in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Telengana and Karnataka. The projects in

Madhya Pradesh, Telengana and Karnataka have recently been commissioned. Upcoming

solar projects in Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka are under implementation.

Renewable energy is becoming a widely accepted, mainstream source of energy and will

play an increasingly important role in achieving a lower-carbon world.  Our opportunities for

growth and diversification into renewable come from the steps we take to create value from

every ore we produce in our mining business; and thereby contribute to Prime Minister’s

Green Energy Mission, International Solar Alliance and Energy security.

This will broaden opportunities for both organic growth and acquisition; and also strategic

partnerships with leading global firms at home and abroad, add more MWs to our portfolio

thereby creating more green jobs and green entrepreneurs in the supply chain.

Atha group stepped into the Renewable Energy Business in 2007-2008 and gradually built up

the Wind capacity of 55 MW by 2011 for Gamesa & Suzlon WTG’s. The first 12MW solar

power plant was commissioned at Bikaner, Rajasthan in 2013; is a state of art Solar Plant

commissioned in India. The next 10 MW Solar Plant was commissioned at Bhilwara,

Rajasthan in 2015. We have been deploying Tier 1 companies for EPCs, Modules and

Inverters.

We have recently touched three important milestones by commissioning the 24MW Solar

Power Plant at Alot, Madhya Pradesh, 19 MW Plant at Nalgonda, Telangana and 10 MW

Chellekere plant in Chitradurga, Karnataka has recently been commissioned in FY 2016-17.

The land for a 24 MW plant in Halalkere, Chitradurga, Karnataka is in advanced stage of

process of acquisition.  An upcoming plant of 65 MW in Maharashtra is in process of order

finalization for solar modules and EPC contract. Another 12MW plant in Madhya Pradesh

has been finalised and the same is being taken up for execution with immediate effect.  All

the undergoing projects are expected to be commissioned by Q1-2017.

In addition to the greenfield expansion we are currently in advanced discussion to acquire

brownfield projects of 100 MW. If that is successful it would take the commissioned

capacities in excess of 250 MW by Q1-2017.

AMPL Cleantech, Atha Group’s renewable arm is targeting to add 200 – 300 MW to its solar

portfolio in the current Financial Year. We envision reaching a target of 500 MW solar

power projects by end of 2017and 1,000 MW by the end of 2019 and will definitely be an

instrument of change and role model in Indian renewable arena. Expansion of our

renewable portfolio represents our integrated element for growth, industrial

innovation, leadership and competitiveness as well as for reducing emissions. Our activities

also generate jobs, investment, infrastructure, lower energy costs and revenues for

governments and local communities.

We constantly focus to earn stakeholders’s trust by being transparent and responsible in

everything we do. The ability to attract, develop, and retain top talent is critical to achieving

our aspirations. We strive to foster a conducive culture to empower individuals, encourage

cross functional collaborations, manage & mitigate risks, drives accountability, sustainability

and reward high performers. The team of AMPL Cleantech is firmly dedicated and motivated

to the resolution that renewable energy is the opportunity and key to success – a vision we

are proud to honour and respect to our customers, partners, community and stakeholders.
